McKaig Nature Education Center is thrilled to offer engaging and educational programs designed specifically for Girl (and Boy) Scouts! For over 60 years, scouts have been exploring our 94.5-acre park and learning from our experienced instructors at the historic Old Roberts Schoolhouse.

Our Badge Program Experience

 

Our hands-on Scout Badge programs are crafted to be both fun and informative. Each session typically includes:

• Classroom instruction in the charming Old Roberts Schoolhouse.

• A guided trip into the woods to apply newly learned skills in a real-world setting.

• A return to the Schoolhouse for crafts, snacks, and a wrap-up session.

Program Costs

 

The standard 1½ to 2-hour badge class costs $150 (or $140 for current McKaig members) for up to 18 scouts. If your troop has more than 18 scouts, we can provide a second instructor for an additional $80.

For more advanced badges that require additional time, the cost is $80 for each extra hour (this includes instructor preparation time). Please note that these more intensive badge classes may be limited to a smaller group size to ensure quality instruction. A materials fee may apply to some programs, such as woodworking.

Troop Leader Responsibilities

 

Troop leaders play a vital role in our programs:

• Leaders are responsible for providing any desired snacks, drinks, or crafts.

• Troops are required to have supervising adults attend the program with the following minimum ratios:

  • 1 Adult to 4 Daisies

  • 1 Adult to 6 Brownies

  • 1 Adult to 8 Juniors and Cadettes

  • 1 Adult to 12 Seniors and Ambassadors
